Hawaiian master shaper & legend surfer Reno Abellira at Bells Beach, mid 70’s during the Rip Curl Easter Classic. His O’Neill wetsuit had Bell Bottoms !!! I worshiped the ground Reno walked on but I couldn’t quite get my head around this “wettie” !!! Reno made me some of the best surfboards I have ever had in my life. The first two being the 7’8″ & 8’0″ magenta & yellow wing / Pin Single Fins that I rode in Hawaii in 1976 & 1977. The third shot is of Reno winning the Smirnoff Pro event at Waimea Bay in 1974 in absolutely massive conditions with quite a few close out sets during the day. A postcard sized shot of Reno sits above the side light in my shaping room next to the Eddie Vedder “Uke songs” postcard. @renoabellira @tracksmag @surfinglife @surfer_magazine @surfersjournal @bernie_baker1 @ripcurl_aus @ripcurl_usa @oneillusa @oneilloz @neilridgway @j__vedder @ronnieblakey_ @luisrealcollection @surfectionbyron #renoabellira #ripcurlprobellsbeach #ripcurlbellsbeachpro
