Off The Wall, North Shore, Hawaii, 1976, I’m riding a 7’8″ long Lightning Bolt wing pin single fin that was shaped by Reno Abellira. It was 27/8″ thick with a subtle Vee bottom & fluted wings. I also had an 8’0″ from him that was the same color. In 1976 “OTW” was totally uncrowded & always surfed by the visiting Aussies & South Africans. Mike Ho, Dane Kealoha & Timmy Carvelho would make an occasional appearance. Because it was a short ride & had a tendency to close out I think most of the Hawaiian surfers thought of it as a “B” class wave on the North Shore scale. They tended not to bother with it preferring to surf Pipe – Backdoor or Rocky Point. This is a Re Post from @lyttlestreet I discovered the photo when @pyzelsurfboards tagged me. No idea who took the photo. @renoabellira @rudyland #bustindownthedoor #mrbustindownthedoormodel #mr1976retrosinglefinmodel
